starfallz: (spindle)
Yesterday I went through all my stash. Well, all the fiber stash, any way. No reason to disturb the yarn. I dug out fiber I was thinking of spinning soon. I wanted some fun spinning and to maybe start one of those spindle projects (mmmm pygora). Found a good little pile of stuff and started digging through my spindles, and then found this:

Greensleeves Vixen

Oh right. I had intended on spinning the pygora on this spindle. Guess I should work on finishing that one up instead....

Back at home and back to my stash. This has lead to full-on fiber flirtation. I keep thinking about all the things I could be spinning or playing with, but unable to commit to any of them at the moment.

While in Brazil, I finished a project that has been on my spindle for a good year and a half.

So this just starts me off to wanting to play with my fibers even more, but unable to decide what to do just yet. Last night, at least, my solution was to knit more so I can move things through my queue and it will be easier to decide.

I seem to be doing more spinning than knitting lately. It may just be because of the slog of the sweater. I just have about 3 increases left and the top of the sleeve shaping to do, but do I pick it up? No, I think about casting on for something else instead. It will get done, though.

After all the prep, spinning and respinning, I now have some sock yarn.

These arrived in the mail yesterday from Jonathan and Sheila Bosworth.

On the left, birds eye maple Midi (1 oz) and on the right a tulipwood Maxi (1.7 oz). I'm intending on using the Midi for spinning singles and the Maxi for plying. One day, I hope to make sock yarn on these!

Sheila was extremely nice to work with in choosing my spindles. I hope to make it to MD S&W again some day and maybe actually get to see them in person (and fondle spindles in person...)

The Bossies with my learning spindle, the Schacht Hi-lo. I'm beginning to see the spindle collection appeal.

The romney roving is now all spun up and bundled into cute little skeins.

Fiber: romney roving
Spindle: Schacht Hi-lo (1.2oz)
Ply: two-ply

Even though I was aggravated with this fiber in the early stages, I eventually learned to love it. I look forward to more spindle projects in the future with fibers I want to spend quality time with. (Although, I may eventually want to get a heavier spindle for plying.)
