Time for a knitting update!

Projects: Current

The back of my vest. Need to find the pattern to figure out how many inches to knit after I shape the armholes.
Vest progress

My toe-up sock has a heel! Made a small messup, but it doesn't bug me enough to rip out the heel and do over.

Projects: Planning

I've been planning on knitting a Clapotis for [livejournal.com profile] kitchengrrl for about a year. I finally got yarn for it.
Clapotis planning

Now I'm trying to decide which would work best for the pattern.

All in this tropical colored yarn...
Clapotis Swatch #1

Or the tropical yarn mixed with the darker yarn...

Any opinions?

[livejournal.com profile] lunassa sent me the last skeins of the handspun she did for me. Isn't it pretty?
The Artsy Shot

Now, what does one do with 6.5 skeins of handspun? I initially thought a vest... and then a shawl... but neither of those are right, now. Any ideas?
The Quantity Shot

I saw there were three skeins of Verdeazul in the 6-ply bulky merino from HandpaintedYarn.com and I snagged them. Now I need a project for them. This yarn is so deliciously soft.

Everything looks wonderful, and that yarn looks delicious ... I am so terribly jealous! :-) I was going to say that I think you should do the clapotis with just the tropical yarn, but upon a few more looks I'm thinking do it with the darker yarn thrown in. Both are beautiful though.

Yea, it is so hard to decide! I've poked the intended recipient to see which she likes.

wow.... that's really hard to decide..... I like both, and I am drawn to the mixed with dark version, but I've got so much dark in my wardrobe, especially in winter. I'm tying to work some more brights in.....

After bringing up a picture of the finished item and comparing side by side with your picture, I think I'm going to stick with the all-light version. :) Thanks so much for being so thoughtful and wonderful. :)

Arrgh. I wish yarn didn't bite me. It's all so pretty.

I like the Clapotis in the mix of tropical and dark, myself.

The Clapotis yarn wouldn't bite you. It's poly/cotton/rayon I think. :)

Spinning on that dizzy edge, I kissed her face and kissed her head...
