starfallz: (philomena)
[personal profile] starfallz
When heading out to visit my parents, I realized I had a whole car to myself, so I decided to bring along Philomena and some spinning fiber. I brought along about 20 oz total of spinning fiber (various types), intending on spinning it up while visiting. What I've finished so far...

"Sarah" from http://sprouty25.etsy.com

3.7 oz Blue-face leicester, spun worsted, 2-ply, worsted weight

I'm incredibly happy with this skein. The colors are beautiful. The singles stayed intact while plying and it turned out to be almost a balanced skein after plying. Wonderful. This is also my first experience with BFL, and it is a really nice fiber to work with.

Ashland Bay Brown Jacob

1.6 oz Jacob, spun woolen, 2-ply, heavy worsted/aran weight

This was a fun fiber to spend. Nice longer staple length and I enjoy the natural color. This reinforces my desire to some day get a Jacob fleece and divide up the colors and spin them for some sort of colorwork. Only critique is that portions of it were underspun, so I ended up with less than I could have after plying.

I've got another 4 oz of another hand-dyed waiting to be plied. Maybe this weekend...
