Spring was only beginning to gain a foothold in Iowa before I left, so I was very happy to see green grass and flowers when I got to Kentucky. I had to run around and take photos of the back yard today. So, for those still without spring, here's some for you.

Some of the wonderfully yellow daffodils in mom's garden.

Although it isn't pretty, it's one of my favorite wildflowers (even though it is an invasive species), Purple Deadnettle.

Also found its close relative, Henbit Deadnettle.

And some periwinkle, hiding in the shadows of the fence, with a spider.

Daffodils are so beautiful! I've never really noticed just how pretty they are until this year. They're such happy looking flowers.

Yea, they are unexpectedly pretty! There are three kinds in that bed, and I like all three for different reasons. There's just something about really cheerful yellow and orange flowers.

I totally forgot that you're living in Iowa now. I was interviewing in Iowa City yesterday for a job. What area do you live in? Do you like it?

Living in Des Moines now. It is pretty nice, although there are some things about Lexington I miss a lot, such as the presence of arty events and opportunities. People are generally nice. Weather is pretty different in some ways. There seems to be a lot of new development, which I think indicates that at least Des Moines is doing well.
