Time for knitting catch up!
Dainty Bess - Detail
Dainty Bess [Ravelry link]
Pattern: Elizabeth I - Dainty Bess by JoLene M. Treace
Materials: Knit Picks Gloss in Woodland Sage
Needles: US 5 / 3.75 mm straights
Amount: 2 skeins
Knit for: my Aunt Judy
Comments: Loved working with the yarn and the pattern was interesting enough, but not too bad for social knitting. Finally glad to have it finished and blocked nicely.

Solstice Mittens - Pair
Solstice Mittens [Ravelry link]
Pattern: improvised, cable borrowed and modded from Jade
Materials: Cascade Yarns Eco + in 7097
Needles: US 5 / 3.75 mm dpns
Amount: well under one skein
Knit for: [livejournal.com profile] thndrstd (winner of my L&LS drawing)
Comments: This yarn works up into some nice mittens. And there is a good amount of yardage per skein, so I may work up some hats or something in it.

Autumn Sunset - Pair
Autumn Waves [Ravelry link]
Pattern: loosely based on Feather & Fan Socks by Judy Sumner
Materials: Zitron Trekking Pro Natura in 1601
Needles: US 1 / 2.25 mm dpns
Amount: 1 skein with some extra left
Knit for: Mom
Mods: For a better fit, I modded the feather and fan pattern to repeat over 18 stitches instead of 16 as originally written. Seem to fit well, as Mom has been wearing them.
Comments: Had some frustrating incidents with these socks. I cast on for these 3 or so times, one set of needles had a tip break off, the other set started bending in my hands and then one cracked. Got a replacement for the first set and then all was good. I still think this is a really nice pattern for varigated yarns, although it wasn't quite as quick a knit this time around. (Edit: Forgot how much I winged these socks. I used a plain flap heel I borrows from Embossed Leaves and then did a star toe from Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters.)

Wild Horse Pair
Wild Horse Mitts [Ravelry link]
Pattern: improvised
Materials: Mountain Colors Mountain Goat in Wild Horse
Needles: US 3 / 3.25 mm dpns
Amount: 1 skein with extra left
Knit for: me, to match my Street Urchin hat
Comments: A little extra room in these, but they work well for mittens. The mohair content of these doesn't seem to bother me, although I don't know why this yarn would be different. As much as they are a nice and simple pair of mittens, I keep thinking I should have made them fingerless flip tops. I am chalking it up to a learning experience.

Kitty Bucket - Finish
Kitty Bucket 2 [Ravelry link]
Pattern: Kitty Pi by Wendy Johnson
Materials: Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky in Beetle (E781)
Needles: US 11 / 8.0 mm circulars
Amount: 2 skeins
Knit for: Rune
Mods: I actually ran short on the yarn, so I reduced the amount of plain rows at the end. I have rolled down the edges of it post felting and Rune now uses it and her first one regularly.
Comments: Awesome swirls of color.

BSJ - Buttons
Surprise! [Ravelry link]
Pattern: Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmermann
Materials: Knit Picks Essential Multis in Confetti
Needles: US 3 / 3.25 mm circulars
Amount: under 2 skeins
Knit for: [livejournal.com profile] tresch's cousin's baby
Comments: My first go with any of Elizabeth Zimmermann's patterns and it was a true delight to work (even after completely frogging once). I'm sure I'm more amused with showing people how it folds up into a sweater than the people I am showing it to.

Reflections - Patterns
Reflections [Ravelry link]
Pattern: loosely based off of Chevron Scarf by Joelle Hoverson
Materials: Fleece Artist Merino Sock 2/6 in an unknown colorway, but maybe similar to Sea Storm
Needles: US 6 / 4.0 mm straights
Amount: 1 skein
Knit for: me
Comments: This yarn has been knit and ripped many times and has held up well. It feels great to work with and I love the depth of the colors. It mesmerized me to knit with.

I may post some of my works in progress soon, although they may be finished before I get around to that...

Yea, they are some of my favorite colors. I love looking at how they shimmer when I look at the yarn close-up too. One of the sensual pleasures of knitting. :D

You're a terribly gifted fiber artist. Undeniable skills - I highly doubt that many (if any) people attempt the shawl from The Anticraft...who else could pull that off?

It's not just the art pieces that make you so amazing, even the simple projects shine. I'm guessing that has something to do with your outright genius at maching colors to projects. I've seen that surprise jacket a million times and...uh...meh. But this one I luv. Oh! And the cabled mittens. I hate mittens, in general, too blah, or too fancy...but those are spot on. I'm first in line to buy the pattern!

Your work is so beautiful! The colors you choose are so perfect with the patterns, too. :)
