one day the blue one went away

This weekend metachaos and I took a trip to Fae Ridge Farm, located near Iowa City. We had seen it featured in the recent Spin-off and had to go since there just aren't that many sheep or spinning places in Iowa.

	Bantam Rooster Beautiful feathers on this guy! He was crowing while we were walking around.
	Silkie Chicken For the silkie lovers out there. She made the cutest sounds.
	Sheep Janette keeps a variety of sheep in her flock. I like the one with the curly locks in back.
	Shetland Ram and other sheep In order to "downsize" her flock, she got a little Shetland ram for breeding.
	Rabbit I was feeding this one nasturtium leaves.

Not only did we get to see all manner of animals and wander around Janette's organic gardens, we were invited to sit and knit with the regular knitting group in the shop. These are a wonderful bunch of ladies and I want more excuses to come out and visit. We each bought some lovely fiber that comes from her own sheep and goats, and some yarns and other notions. She also carries Ashford wheels, which I'd love to try some time. I highly recommend visiting there if you are in the neighborhood.

Mostly I want Metachaos to try out the Ashfords because she's wanting to buy a wheel and it'd be good for her to try out a variety. :) I've tried a Traveller, but I'd like to try the Traditional and the Kiwi out of curiosity.

There's a yarn store kinda near here (With Yarn In Front) that stocks wheels. I was there today and noticed they have a Sonata. I was good and didn't ask to try it out...

Maybe when I'm next out there we could do some yarn shopping or something. Looking like I'm going to be out there sometime in the last two weeks of October. Let me know if you're busy. :) Of course, I have to figure out travel plans with Paul and Tresch since there was a bit of a wrench in the plans when I talked to Paul yesterday.

It was great to find a good knitting group. Only problem is it is over two hours to drive there for me, so it will be a limited thing. And I probably won't get to go again until the new year.

The bunnies were so cute. I think they've got some angoras too, as they offer some fiber blends with angora in them.
