starfallz: (knitting)

Another "endless" project finished!

And because it still amuses me so much, I'm going to post before and after blocking shots.

Pattern: Hemlock Ring Blanket, modification by Jared Flood (I recommend picking up the PDF put together by the Rainey Sisters which has a correction to the original doily pattern.)
Materials: Araucania Nature Wool in #20
Needles: US 9/5.5mm circulars
Amount: 3 skeins
Knit for: my grandmother

Ah the wonders of wool. Now, what large project will I tackle next...

That's so cool. It looks like a cross-sectioned tree trunk or something.

I hadn't thought of it that way. Thanks!

I lurve before-and-after blocking shots. When one mostly does scarves, hats, mittens, teratomas, and vulvas, it's nice to know that blocking still serves a purpose. Plus it's kind of like a magic trick.

Looks LOVELY, my dear.

I love the summary of your knitting. :D

Thank you very much! I have a ball of yarn to give you. Do you want me to hang on to it until I'm there next or should I mail it?

Hang on to it, sil vous plait, as I need no distractions during Operation Fucking Kilt Hose. ;)

Okeydokey. :D I didn't think you were making the kilt hose for fucking, but what do I know.... ^_-

Your Hemlock ring came out so beautiful. Makes me wish I made mine in a handdye. I am so glad you posted the before and after blocking shots. I haven't blocked mine yet and even though I know that it will be okay after blocking, the current state scares me a bit. Now to clean out the studio so that I have an Astrid-free place to block that sucker.

What, you don't want her to help? :D It is really scary unblocked. People were feeling the need to tell me "uh, that isn't blanket sized...". They clearly don't know of the magic of blocking. :D

The binding off took forever. I think I used 300+ pins for blocking.

300 pins? Crap, I am going to have to buy more pins before I can start.

Hm... now my memory is fuzzy. I know I have 4 packs of t-pins and I used one for each of the points/scallops/whatever for the border. Maybe it was more like 150. I forget how many pins are per pack.

I think that the pins I have come 75 to a pack, but at least 20 are MIA. I will just go ahead and buy a few packs and return whatever I don't use.
