I think it would either be staggeringly amazing or increasingly horrible. The feedback mechanism described, where the robot can detect nearby rhythmic input and adjust its own tempo to match, could spin out of control with even two of them trying to sync. Sure be curious to see them try, though!

I wonder if ones could be other made for other instrument sounds, like horns or strings, but then they wouldn't have the interactive quality with the environment this guy has. I kind of imagine a little mobile horde that follows the little drummer and when he stops and drums, then they pick up the sounds and make sounds too.
