starfallz: (winter morning)

This weekend, we drove. And drove and drove. And found a gravel road and kept driving. There was a purpose.

Sheep!

Jacob sheep to be exact, with multiple sets of horns and multicolored wool. We (Metachaos, Cypher, Ramsey and myself) were quite entranced.

Two of the breeding males, Kessel and Sultan.

And their pen mate, Sam Spade.

There were some more rams that had just come down from pasture.

I missed getting a good shot of Percy, on of their main rams. He had torn up his nose competing with another ram through a barbed wire fence.

It was feeding time for the cute little ewe lambs.

There were also some very roly-poly elkhounds.

Also, spotted ass!

They are good at alerting and defending against predators and eat the same food the sheep do.

I came home with some yarn. :) I got about a half pound of natural chocolate colored and another half of natural grey. I'll have to make something memorable. :)

On the way back, we stopped at the bridge we crossed on the way to the farm. It was old and rustic.

We also found a bat. It probably wasn't well. We didn't touch it, but we did take a close look.

The bridge spanned over a scenic river. There were bluffs.

And hills! Hills in Iowa!

And some not sheep related pictures... Meta's cats!

Sumi, looking rather like G'mork.

And the new arrival...

Maki.
