Probably could have composed that a bit better. It is a kamakura snow hut. You see them in some winter festivals in Akita in Japan (plust the dog is an Akita Inu). Thank you. :)
This reminds me, thank you for sending the card. We did get it though it took a little bit, mailman knew the house number on it wasn't a Hite but wasn't sure which one it went to so it gave it to Gazer's mom and let her figure out who it was for. (Ours is #219)
Year of the dog? Must be a good one, then, hopefully! Nice pic! Is that a taiyaki in your user icon? My absolute favorite Japanese food (besides Pocky,... maybe) ever? *devours it*
Ooh, neat... except the lunar new year isn't until the end of the month... :P Isn't the character up at the top left the "budo" character, though? I thought dog was something else.
Thanks. In Japan, they celebrate the beginning of the solar calendar with exchanging cards with the year animal on them, which is what my cards derive from. In Japanese there are three kanji that mean dog, but this is the one specifically used for for the 11th sign of the Chinese zodiac in Japan.
