You just start knitting. That's the beauty of self-striping sock yarn. (The pattern looks different based on how big your sock is, how small your stitches are, etc.)
Starfallz, I'm knitting a pair of gloves with Knitpicks's merino sock yarn. It's so soft. It's the only wool out there that's not itchy, and even though you can't wash it, it's worth it. Your stitches come out looking beautiful. I really wish they'd add some self-striping yarns, but oh well -- my gloves' fingers are kind of stripey.:)
